My objective is to produce responsive modern design via a cultural and technological approach - a concern for the future, informed by a rational interrogation of the conventional.
We need to strive to make our future living and working environments more efficient, comfortable and stimulating than ever before. With an open mind and lateral thought, we must creatively overcome perceived constraints, attempting to achieve a totally cohesive design solution at all levels - from the overall concept, through to the smallest details.
I have an strong interest in exploring the effects of current scientific theory on architecture and design, striving to develop a unity of function and beauty, via an accurate understanding of the natural order of our physical environment.
My studies into the relationship of evolution and genetics to architecture and design, concentrate primarily on the evolutionary process of the 'idea' (as opposed to any 'physicality') within architectural theory.
Conceptualising architecture, like art, (as opposed to the physical acts of construction and painting) is an entirely cerebral process - a function of the brain's simple generative codes, which are made complex only by their distance from the generative origin.
Architecture, as a profession incorporates a fusion of the traditional fields of art and science, with the architect occupying the unique position as mediator.
Contemporarily, these two subjects are viewed as polemically opposed - however I like to adopt a pragmatic, rational approach to art and science/ function and beauty - seeing no definitive boundaries, rather adopting the notion that they are similar processes, operating in two distinctly separate environments - the physical environment, and the environment of the mind.
